The Argentine thanked the Toon Army for their support after an important point.
Newcastle United have stopped the rot, of sorts, yesterday afternoon. They drew 1-1 at St James Park after a goal from Ayoze Perez leveled up after Victor Anichebe scored from yet another set-piece situation.
It was the first time they had picked up points since February's 1-0 win against Aston Villa and has moved them one step closer to Premier League survival.
The resurgence of Aston Villa, Leicester City and Sunderland has left the struggling Newcastle faltering near the bottom of the table.
But while a point against West Brom helps, it is far from a saving grace.
One Newcastle United player who was appreciative of the Newcastle fans who have had to suffer so much this campaign is Jonas Gutierrez.
The Argentine is of course a club hero, because of his work-rate and his recent battle with testicular cancer.
He thanked fans for their support on Twitter yesterday:
Thanks for the support during all the season and specially today newcastle fans, proud to wear the black and white shirt. We still fighting— jonas gutierrez (@elgalgojonas) May 9, 2015
Newcastle now face QPR and West Ham United in their final two games of the season. QPR may have already been relegated by then and The Hammers have little to play for - s0 they will fancy their chances of beating Hull City to the drop.
