The versatile winger has admitted that he would like to see some of the club’s exciting talents in contention.
The 19-year-old has shown that he has the versatility to play at wither right wing-back or further forward and looks set to be an important player for Liverpool in years to come.
Following in the footsteps of Raheem Sterling, Ibe has stated that the Anfield outfit has a wealth of talent in its youth ranks and is keen to see a number of other fresh-faced players given their chance in the first team.
The former Birmingham City loanee has selected five players in particular that he feels could well make an appearance and thrive in Rodgers’ starting XI next season.
“There are a lot of youngsters coming through who will get the chance to impress the manager – and it’s great because there are a lot of opportunities coming now with obviously players leaving,” he is quoted as saying by The Telegraph.
“So, hopefully we will become the future of the club.
“There is me trying to come through and Raheem has already established himself. There are players like Cam Brannagan, Jordan Rossiter, Jerome Sinclair, Joao [Teixeira], Sheyi [Ojo].
“Some are out on loan, hopefully they can come back pre-season, and get a chance like I have.
“It’s about them proving themselves and obviously the manager, he likes to play young players. So, hopefully if they can get a chance, there is a possibility.”
The Reds are looking likely to miss out on Champions League football and as such the playing squad is expected to face something of an upheaval in the summer.
The Anfield outfit have had mixed results in the transfer market in recent times and as such there could well be scope for looking internally for the players to get the club back in the top four.
