Jamie Redknapp picks Tottenham's four best players... chooses two that are struggling

The former Tottenham Hotspur midfielder singled out a 'homegrown' quartet.

Jamie Redknapp believes Harry Kane, Nabil Bentaleb, Ryan Mason and Danny Rose have been Tottenham's four best players this season, according to the Daily Mail.

The Sky Sports pundit was reflecting on the fact that the north London side were in the Champions League quarter-finals four years ago. He thinks they now look 'miles' off a Champions League place.

The positives of Tottenham's campaign, however, have no doubt been their 'homegrown lads,' Redknapp argues.

He said: "Four years ago, Tottenham were in the Champions League quarter-finals. Now, they look miles off the top four.

"Their best players this season have been the homegrown lads - Harry Kane, Nabil Bentaleb, Ryan Mason, Danny Rose."

No mention for Hugo Lloris, Jan Vertonghen or Christian Eriksen. All three have struggled to varying degrees of late, of course, but the exact same can be said of two of Redknapp's top four.

Indeed, as Spurs fans will know all too well, Bentaleb has been poor lately - but Mason has taken struggling to new levels at White Hart Lane.

The young duo are no doubt tired after a long campaign during which both generally have indeed impressed. Tottenham's focus on fitness has caught up with them badly, however, and there is no shortage of supporters now calling for Mousa Dembele to return to the starting line-up.
