Ian Wright says Mike Ashley will have regrets over 'Super Alan Pardew'

St James Park

The former Crystal Palace striker has been discussing the Newcastle United hierarchy.

Former Crystal Palace striker Ian Wright has once again heaped praise on the club's manager Alan Pardew on Twitter.

And the Palace icon feels Newcastle owner Mike Ashley will have regrets of letting Pardew leave St James' Park earlier this season.

Pardew traded Newcastle for Crystal Palace, with the Magpies struggling desperately under John Carver since.

Carver's men only just put a run of eight defeats in a row to an end on Saturday afternoon with a 1-1 draw against West Brom.

Pardew, meanwhile, has raised Crystal Palace above Newcastle in the Premier League table since taking over at Selhurst Park.

Many Newcastle fans will no doubt disagree with Wright's view, as Pardew has undoubtedly done a good job at Crystal Palace - but a far better one than he was doing on Tyneside earlier this season.

It would certainly have been a better choice to keep him at St James' Park this season instead of appointing Carver. Should Newcastle stay up and appoint a different coach next season, however, their long-term future may still work out for the better.

Crystal Palace are certainly better off under Pardew - but it doesn't necessarily mean he was a good fit for the Magpies anymore.
