BBC pundit Gary Lineker was angered to see Queens Park Rangers go down with a whimper.

BBC pundit Gary Lineker has taken to social media site Twitter in order to blast Queens Park Rangers’ dismal capitulation as a 6-0 thrashing at Manchester City sealed their return to the Championship.

The Hoops went into the game all but assured of Premier League relegation but could have delayed their fate by at least another week with victory at the Etihad Stadium.

The Citizens have responded well to their recent Manchester derby defeat, but their home form is still patchy and Chris Ramsey’s men with heart and passion could have caused them a problem.

However, they simply failed to turn up and in front of a host of loyal travelling supporters they capitulated as early as the fourth minute as Sergio Aguero took advantage of some hesitant defending.

The Argentine international had completed his hat-trick by the 65th minute, with James Milner, Aleksandar Kolarov and David Silva also finding the net in a resounding 6-0 win for Manuel Pellegrini’s men.

QPR over the course of the season simply have ultimately fallen short on quality, but unlike Burnley their lack of heart when it mattered was appalling and prompted Lineker to sympathise with their supporters.

The Loftus Road outfit have a tough rebuilding job on their hands as the squad is littered with high-earners and players who may prove difficult to remove in the summer.

One player who will have a queue of suitors, however, is star striker Charlie Austin. The 25-year-old has netted 17 Premier League goals this season; a tremendous effort for a member of a relegated side.
