Embarrassing stat: Chadli took less touches than Lloris v Stoke

The Tottenham Hotspur winger was particularly anonymous at the Britannia Stadium.

The Tottenham squad as a whole did not have a good day at Stoke City on Saturday: that much is clear.

Reviewing the post-match statistics, however, one figure stands out above many others when it comes to the north London side's heroes and villains against the Potters.

Were there any heroes? Not really.

Villains? There were plenty. And not just in Tottenham's struggling defence.

Indeed, Nacer Chadli posted an embarrassing statistic during the 3-0 loss at the Britannia...

  TouchesFinal-Third PassesMinutes Played
Christian Eriksen 98 18 90
Ryan Mason 79 14 90
Nabil Bentaleb 67 13 90
Eric Dier 64 5 90
Hugo Lloris 38 - 90
Nacer Chadli 32 3 61

As Opta stats show, the winger took less touches than Spurs goalkeeper Hugo Lloris. So ineffectual was Chadli despite a slightly promising first few minutes that he was less involved than the Frenchman on one of his off-days...

Granted, the 25-year-old only played 61 minutes. But his contribution was still far from good enough.

Chadli completed just three passes in the final third, 11 less than Ryan Mason and 10 less than Nabil Bentaleb. Even more worrying is the fact those two midfielders had bad days themselves for Tottenham.

Christian Eriksen set the standard in terms of both key areas at Stoke but, once again, the Dane wasn't on top form either.

The time has probably come to give Chadli a rest...
