Liverpool striker Daniel Sturridge may not have been there in person when his side took on Chelsea at Stamford Bridge this weekend, but the England international would have kicked every ball along with them in spirit.
The 25-year-old is currently side-lined with an injury and as the Reds faced the newly-crowned Premier League champions, Sturridge took to Twitter to post a picture of the view from his bed, as he watched the game and continued his recuperation.
Liverpool have missed Sturridge this season, with their other strikers too often failing to live up to their star billing, most notably Mario Balotelli. But having featured only 18 times in all competitions this campaign, Sturridge is already looking ahead to when he can impact things on the pitch once more.
Writing on the social media site, the Liverpool ace said, “Would love to be there today but next season I will be.”
That time cannot come soon enough for Liverpool fans who are desperate to see their star striker scoring regularly once again.
If he had been fit for the entire season things may have been different, but he is clearly looking towards the future, as are Reds fans hoping manager Brendan Rodgers makes the right signings to improve the squad this summer.
