The Gunners enforcer has admitted that he enjoyed away wins over the Manchester clubs this season.
Since being given his chance, the Frenchman has not looked back and is not an important member of a North London side that will be looking to put forward a title challenge next season.
Coquelin has highlighted two games that he remembers fondly since returning to the Emirates Stadium fold.
Having been part of the side that lost 8-2 to Manchester United in the past, the 24-year-old was especially glad to go back to Old Trafford and win in the FA Cup this term.
“It was nice to go back to Old Trafford,” Coquelin told The Guardian.
“A big one is probably Man City because people were thinking: ‘You’re going in with Coquelin in midfield? Against Man City? You’re going to get smashed.’ And we won 2-0.”
Coquelin was rewarded for his excellent performances with a new five-year contract and he now appears like an essential player for Wenger and his team.
The Frenchman is being touted for a potential call-up to the senior Les Bleus’ team in the near future also, showing a clear sign of just how far he has come over the last six months.
