The Slovakian defender Martin Skrtel has been linked with an exit this week.
Earlier this week it was reported by The Mirror that fears were growing at Liverpool over the future of Martin Skrtel. The Slovakian is entering the final 12 months on his current contract. That saw him also being linked with a move to Inter Milan.
Now, the player himself has aimed to ease those fears. He told the official Liverpool website yesterday:
"There is always talk about my position and my future.
"Almost every single transfer window there is always talk about myself leaving Liverpool and interest from other clubs.
"But as it stands, I still have a contract with Liverpool, I have an offer from Liverpool and we'll see where we finish [with those talks].
"I am fully committed to Liverpool."
That will come as a real boost for Liverpool. The centre-back has been in great form this season. The Liverpool defensive unit has been criticised for their performances this season. But the performances of Skrtel have been one positive.
The Slovakian has excelled for both his club team and national team this term and has received plenty of praise for his performances.
He posted this Tweet earlier today on Skrtel:
"Surely someone from the top 4 should go and get Skrtel ! Would love him to go to Arsenal. ..." http://t.co/LUtzgKKlnZ— Ian Wright (@IanWright0) May 10, 2015
Arsenal of course recently signed Gabriel from Villarreal but with Per Mertesacker starting to get on a bit another defender would certainly be welcome at Arsenal.
Wright, who is a former record goalscorer at Arsenal, is of the opinion Skrtel could be that man.
