According to a report from Dutch newspaper De Telegraaf, Manchester United will pay imminent new signing Memphis Depay €140,000 a week.
United announced on Thursday that a deal had been struck – subject to a medical – to bring the free-scoring 21-year-old to Old Trafford this summer, but no contract details have yet been officially released.
That has not stopped the latest report claiming Depay will be among the highest-paid players at United, with Wayne Rooney, Radamel Falcao and Robin van Persie the absolute top earners on around €340,000 a week.
The report also contrasts Depay’s alleged deal with that of his countryman Ruud van Nistelrooy when the striker swapped PSV Eindhoven for United.
Back then the prolific marksman earned £12,000 a week, which according to the latest report is a fee Depay will bank almost every day.
United started their summer business swiftly this year and it will be interesting to see who else arrives at the club in due course, with a quality central midfielder and an experienced centre-back also surely heading any list of potential new recruits.
