Report: Edinson Cavani reportedly chooses Serie A return despite United and Liverpool links

A player linked with Manchester United, Arsenal and Liverpool has reportedly opted for a return to Italy.

According to a report from Italian newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, Paris Saint-Germain striker Edinson Cavani has decided to move to Juventus next season.

The 28-year-old has reportedly given the go-ahead to the move in the last few hours, although it is dependent on the future of fellow PSG front-man Zlatan Ibrahimovic.

The report claims – unsurprisingly – that the Ligue 1 club will not be willing to part company with both players this summer, but should the Swedish star remain, it seems the Uruguayan has decided on his next destination.

Cavani has been strongly linked with a number of Premier League clubs in recent times, with the Daily Star reporting that Manchester United, Arsenal and Liverpool are all keeping tabs on him.

Given Liverpool’s need for quality additions up front, that would be no surprise, while United have seen both Robin van Persie and Radamel Falcao falter this season and Arsenal will want to strengthen in a bid to rival Chelsea for next year’s Premier League.

In short, Cavani is such a talent that most top clubs in Europe would be interested were he to become available, with the player scoring 25 goals this season and 190 in his club career to date.

But if the latest report is true, it seems United, Liverpool, Arsenal and a whole host of others could be left disappointed. All expect Juventus, that is.
