Photos: Pochettino's full-time reaction sums up Tottenham's season

The Tottenham Hotspur boss looked dejected as his side were thrashed at Stoke City.

That's the word that sums up Tottenham's season once again and that's exactly what Mauricio Pochettino's expression conveyed at full-time on Saturday afternoon. The Argentine, in fact, looked dejected throughout during his side's 3-0 defeat to Stoke City - but the full-time whistle seemed to bring a moment of reflection for him.

In truth, the result wasn't in doubt from the opening minutes at the Britannia Stadium. Stoke raced out the blocks, dominated proceedings and made it abundantly clear Spurs were set up wrong from the off.

Four centre-backs, a goalkeeper who committed a major error, a languid midfield and an exhausted striker were made to look amateur.

Sadly, though, Pochettino's dejection didn't simply summarise Tottenham's Stoke loss, it spoke volumes for their season as a whole. The difference is that the frustration is greater - as the north London's campaign started with far more promise than this nightmare display.

Where next for Spurs? A summer of intense work in the transfer market is a must, so too a stable pre-season full of tactical work - with less emphasis on fitness this time around as it has clearly cost the club in the latter stages of the campaign.
