The St James' Park faithful appear to have lost patience with the 30-year-old.
As Sir Alex Ferguson would say, it's 'squeaky bum time' for Newcastle United.
Yes, the players showed some spirit. Yes, the Tyneside outfit's run of eight consecutive defeats is over after their 1-1 draw with West Brom. And, yes, Newcastle aren't quite in the relegation zone.
But there is plenty of work left if the Magpies are to ensure Premier League survival this year. For, while Newcastle didn't lose, they also didn't win - and are now down to 17th in the table, just two points above 18th-placed Hull City.
As ever, the 'best coach in the Premier League' came in for heavy scrutiny for his role in Newcastle's draw against West Brom. The rot was stopped but John Carver still made several puzzling decisions.
And Magpies fans couldn't get their head around one selection in particular. Indeed, as much admiration as the supporters have for Ryan Taylor for the way in which he has battled back from serious injury, many feel it's time for Newcastle to drop the 30-year-old.
Taylor's display against West Brom was described by one fan as 'woeful,' while another suggested he looked 'lost.' The majority view seems to be a call for Mehdi Abeid in his stead.
Here's what Newcastle supporters were saying on Twitter after the 1-1 draw...
As much as I admire the bloke Ryan Taylor needs to be dropped next week. He just looks lost. Why the hell does Abeid not play? #nufc— The Toon Review (@thetoonreview) May 9, 2015
My MOTM was Anita. Special mentions to Dummett and Colback. Ryan Taylor MUST be dropped and Abeid start #nufc— Tommy Franklin Џ (@TommyFr10) May 9, 2015
Negative tactics (+ the selection of Ryan Taylor for set pieces) could see #nufc relegated. Better effort from players. Same awful manager.— Alex Hurst (@tfalex1892) May 9, 2015
Sammy on for Ayoze and Ryan Taylor is still on the pitch... There are no words #nufc— Matthew (@BigNumberFour) May 9, 2015
