Lord Sugar reacts to Tottenham Hotspur’s defeat at Stoke City

Tottenham Hotspur were disappointing during their defeat at Stoke City.

Former Tottenham Hotspur chairman Lord Sugar has branded Spurs a disgrace following their disappointing 3-0 defeat at Stoke City.

The North Londoners headed into their encounter at the Britannia Stadium looking to get back on track following a poor run of just two wins in seven matches.

While their Premier League top-four dreams have been dashed, Europa League qualification is still up for grabs and that is a competition Spurs should be aiming to compete in.

However, their end-of-season focus may well be looking ahead to the summer as a number of players simply failed to turn up as they were crushed by a fully motivated Stoke side.

Defenders Eric Dier and Jan Vertonghen made crucial mistakes while Vlad Chiriches ultimately had a game to forget, receiving his marching orders after just 51 minutes for two yellow-card offences.

Taking to social networking site Twitter in order to vent his frustrations, popular figure Lord Sugar feels there is a real lack of interest among the Spurs players, citing Christian Eriksen as the only positive.

The Lilywhites’ third defeat in five matches has taken the shine off what promised to be a successful debut campaign for Argentine boss Mauricio Pochettino.

The development of Harry Kane, Ryan Mason, Nabil Bentaleb and Danny Rose into first-team regulars, plus a League Cup final appearance, is certainly something Spurs fans can be proud of.

However, that positivity has been crushed somewhat over the past six weeks and poor player performances will leave Pochettino with a big recruitment job to do this summer.
