Carragher reacts on Twitter to United win, suggests 'consolation' for Liverpool fans

The former Liverpool defender took to social media after Manchester United's 2-1 win at Crystal Palace.

Jamie Carragher has reacted to Manchester United's win over Crystal Palace on Twitter with a typically humorous barb at the club.

Indeed, United's win reduces Liverpool's hopes of a top-four finish but Carragher feels there is a 'consolation' for Reds fans - and indeed fans of any other club.

Yes, the Liverpool legend believes Manchester United will lose David de Gea (most likely to Real Madrid, one would assume) this summer.

That means the Spaniard would just have two games left to play for the Old Trafford outfit...

Meanwhile, over in Spain, Iker Casillas made another costly error for Real Madrid, with Valencia leaving the Bernabeu with a point as Barcelona took a step closer to the La Liga title.

Could Casillas's errors - and Madrid losing the league title to their greatest rivals - lead them to go all out for Manchester United goalkeeper De Gea?

Carragher certainly thinks so. But it is a grand shame for Liverpool fans that this is the kind of 'consolation' on offer.

United's results of late had left the door wide open for the Reds to claim a Champions League spot. But it wasn't to be as Liverpool floundered.
