The Match of the Day host took to social media while Newcastle were losing...
The Magpies were losing when the BBC presenter and former England striker took to Twitter, with their equaliser prompting another humorous response from Lineker.
West Brom had taken the lead at St James' Park, temporarily sending them into the Premier League's bottom three.
And Lineker's joke highlighted the problems Carver is facing on Tyneside in terms of the club's injury crisis and lack of depth.
The Newcastle coach hasn't covered himself in glory this season, showing a distressing lack of leadership - but the side's injury problems certainly haven't helped.
Meanwhile West Brom have taken the lead at Newcastle. John Carver may well bring himself on.— Gary Lineker (@GaryLineker) May 9, 2015

Meanwhile, former Sunderland man Michael Gray took to Twitter before the game to mock the Magpies after the Black Cats' 2-0 win at Everton.
Gray mimicked Kevin Keegan's famous 'I would love it' rant and later posted a picture of the league table while Newcastle were stuck in the bottom three.
I would Love It.... If West Brom beat Newcastle...Just Love It— michael gray (@mickygray33) May 9, 2015
Ayoze Perez's equaliser saved Carver and co plenty of grief but, for Newcastle fans, it is no laughing matter. There is still plenty of work to be done...
