David Gold reveals club's orders to West Ham squad, provides fitness update

The West Ham co-chairman took to social media like he often does on the eve of a match.

West Ham United co-chairman David Gold says his players have been told nothing other than to win their last three Premier League games.

Indeed, the Hammers chief was asked by a fan on Twitter whether the club have ordered their stars not to commit any tackles between now and the end of the season in order to ensure qualification for the Europa League by virtue of fair play.

Gold, however, insists the West Ham squad have simply been told to win, although he nevertheless remains optimistic of securing European football through the fair play league.

Meanwhile, Gold also provided a short fitness update ahead of West Ham's trip to Aston Villa later today.

When asked if James Collins (said to be struggling to be fit), Reece Oxford and Reece Burke would be travelling to Villa, Gold initially confirmed all three would be available selection.

However, after being corrected by a supporter, the West Ham co-chairman confirmed Oxford is away on international duty.

West Ham have been in poor form of late, although they beat Burnley 1-0 last weekend thanks to a penalty. And, should the Hammers qualify for Europe, plenty of their ills from this season will no doubt be forgiven.
