Southampton's Victor Wanyama: Leicester will be tougher to beat than Sunderland

Southampton midfielder Victor Wanyama is expecting a very tough game against Leicester City this weekend.

Southampton midfielder Victor Wanyama has told the club's official website that Leicester City will be tougher opponents than Sunderland.

The Saints may have lost 2-1 to the Black Cats last weekend, but Wanyama believes that Leicester will pose an even trickier challenge.

The Foxes have won five of their last six matches to edge their way towards Premier League safety and Wanyama has urged his side to be aggressive on Saturday, or risk slipping to another defeat.

“I think Leicester will be harder than Sunderland because they are really motivated and they have been winning their home games,” Wanyama said.

“It was a disappointing result against Sunderland. It was nice to be back but I was very angry after the game because we didn’t play our best.

“It’s important to get back to winning ways. We know where we can be and where we can finish so we need to get back to our best."

Southampton need to get back to winning ways if they are to claim a spot in the Europa League, but their performances have fallen short of their usual standard of late.

Ronald Koeman's side have not posed much of an attacking threat and their loss to Sunderland means that they won't be too confident heading to the King Power Stadium.

Leicester's home ground is likely to be a cauldron of noise, with supporters of the club rallying behind their side, and it will be up to Southampton to prove that they are as desperate for the win as Nigel Pearson's charges.

Leicester have fought valiantly against the drop and, after getting out of the bottom three, they will be determined not to let their hard work count for nothing.
