Top five stats ahead of Memphis Depay's £25million move to Manchester United

Memphis Depay - PSV

Manchester United have agreed a deal to sign Dutch forward Memphis Depay from PSV Eindhoven.

On Thursday, Manchester United confirmed the signing of PSV Eindhoven's Memphis Depay for a fee in the region of £25-30 million (per the BBC).

Despite speculation linking him with a move to Liverpool and French giants Paris Saint Germain, the Dutch international preferred a move to Old Trafford to re-join Louis van Gaal, who managed him with the Netherlands at last summer’s World Cup.

Subject to the 21-year-old passing his medical next week, the PSV academy graduate, who was his side's top scorer as they stormed to Dutch Eredivisie title success this season, will join the Red Devils when the summer transfer window opens in June.

Following the exciting news regarding the Netherlands international's pending move, we bring you the most interesting stats:

10 - Memphis Depay is the youngest player in the top 10 European leagues (excluding play-offs) with 15+ league goals this season. He has scored 21 goals in the Eredivisie this season and averages 0.79 goals per 90 minutes this campaign.

42 - In total, the 21-year-old has scored 42 goals in 104 appearances, while scooping his first Eredivisie title late last month. He netted within 20 minutes of his senior debut in 2011 in an 8-0 destruction of VVSB Noordwijkerhout in the Dutch Cup.

7 - With seven goals from outside the box - the most in the Eredivisie - six from direct free-kicks and 77 successful dribbles - enough to rank second in the Dutch top flight - comparisons have been drawn with former United icon Cristiano Ronaldo.

15 - Depay has 15 international caps and impressively scored twice at last summer’s FIFA World Cup in Brazil. His first goal, against Australia in a 3-2 win for Holland, made him the youngest-ever Dutch goalscorer at a World Cup.

4 - Memphis Depay becomes the fourth player to move to Manchester United from PSV. He follows in the footsteps of Jaap Stam, Ruud van Nistelrooy and Ji-Sung Park.
