Tim Sherwood: What Aston Villa's fans realise about the club

Aston Villa manager Tim Sherwood has stressed the importance of the club's supporters.

Aston Villa manager Tim Sherwood stressed the importance of the club’s fans on talkSPORT.

Sherwood has explained that the club’s supporters realise the mess and the situation that Villa find themselves in, calling for the club’s fans to get right behind the team over their remaining games.

“They’re going to be very important for us. We’ve got two home games but the away game against Southampton is going to be important as well. They realise we’re right in the mess here and it’s going to go right to the wire for us to get ourselves out of it,” he said.

The priority for the club is simply to stay in the Premier League before an FA Cup final at Wembley against Arsenal.

Villa Park can be a very intimidating place for any team to go and the fact that two out of the last three league games come at home for the club is significant.

If Villa fans can create a loud and hostile sort of atmosphere as they get behind their team, they will make it intimidating and difficult for any opposition team to play their football at the ground.

Villa have the pace and the quality on the ball to take advantage at the start of games with their opposition on the back foot.

Sherwood guarantees that his side will always try and give everything they have and that’s all the majority of fans want to see.

If the players show them that passion and commitment, they will get right behind the side and that will lift the team in difficult spells during their remaining matches.
