Colombia international striker Falcao has been in disappointing form this season and has also struggled with fitness issues.
The 29-year-old has scored just four goals and created only 16 chances in 24 Premier League appearances for United this campaign, while having a pass accuracy of 85% and a shot accuracy of 55%.
Falcao joined United on a season-long loan deal from Ligue 1 outfit AS Monaco in the summer of 2014, and it would come as a surprise if United do sign the former Atletico Madrid striker on a permanent deal.
Mata, though, seems to be supportive of his under-fire teammate, as he made the following post on Twitter this evening.
United will be looking to return to winning ways in the Premier League on Saturday, when they take on Crystal Palace away from home at Selhurst Park.
Louis van Gaal’s side will head into the encounter on the back of a 1-0 defeat to West Bromwich Albion at Old Trafford.
The Red Devils are currently fourth in the Premier League table with 65 points from 35 matches, four points ahead of fifth-placed Liverpool.
