A year ago, on the 8th May 2014, there was plenty going on in the world of football.
Manchester United supporters and team-mates named David De Gea their player of the the year, Arsenal were reportedly offered Brazilian midfielder Diego while Jose Mourinho was fined £10,000 after comments he made after a home defeat to Sunderland.
But for the latest in a set of features looking back on this day in football a year previously the focus is on Tottenham Hotspur, Sandro and Tim Sherwood.
Brazilian midfielder Sandro was relishing the future at Tottenham Hotspur, after breaking the news that Tim Sherwood was definitely being let go by the club.
The robust midfielder told ESPN Brazil, as reported by the Daily Mail:
"He (Sherwood) will leave at the end of the season. Then, new coach, new everything."
Sandro had not been featuring for Tottenham under Tim Sherwood, and had publicly made his feelings known about the new manager.
In the end he was right, Sherwood was let go.
But a new start at Spurs was not around the corner. Instead, he was also flogged. Sandro was let go in the summer, being snapped up by Harry Redknapp at QPR.
