Michael Owen has predicted in his Colossusbets.com column that Chelsea will Sunday’s Premier League game against Liverpool at Stamford Bridge.
Chelsea have already won the league title this season, but former Liverpool striker Owen believes that the Blues will be “professional” and pick up all three points against the Merseyside outfit.
“I think that you can rely on champions Chelsea to be as professional as ever against Liverpool, not least for the fact that they want to maintain their unbeaten league record at the Bridge this season,” the 35-year-old wrote on Colossusbets.com.
“Liverpool are somewhat stumbling towards the end of the season but they are still in with a chance of Champions League football, so I expect them to be competitive in defeat. I go for Chelsea 1-0 or 2-1.”
Could Michael Owen’s prediction come true?
Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho is a ‘winner’, and one suspects that he would want his side to pick up maximum points from their final three games of the 2014-15 Premier League campaign.
The London outfit have a strong home form, which will play to the Blues’ advantage against Liverpool.
The Reds are not completely out of the running for a top-four finish in the Premier League this season, but it is going to be tough for them to pip rivals Manchester United to that prized fourth spot.
One should expect Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers to urge his players to give their all at the Bridge, but Chelsea are a much better team and should be able to pick up at least a point.
