Brentford will be looking to get an advantage in their Championship playoff semi-final tie against Middlesbrough tonight.
Mark Warburton’s side will host the first leg of the tie at Griffin Park this evening, and they will be determined to register a win.
The Bees last featured in the top flight of English football in 1947, and it would be a huge achievement if they manage to get promoted to the Premier League for the 2014-15 campaign.
However, Brentford do not have a good record in the playoffs. The London outfit have suffered defeat in their seven previous playoffs campaigns, and have lost three playoff finals.
All of those final defeats have been in the third tier, though, and perhaps they will have better luck this time around.
Meanwhile, Middlesbrough are aiming to return to the Premier League for the first time since relegation in 2009.
Boro were many Championship football followers’ favourites to get automatic promotion to the Premier League, but they ended up fourth in the standings.
