Wayne Rooney and James Wilson can be ‘unstoppable’ – Ben Pearson comments on dream Manchester United strike duo

Rooney Warm Up

Ben Pearson dubbed a strike partnership of Wayne Rooney and James Wilson as ‘unstoppable’ during an interview with Manchester United’s official website.

Midfield prospect Ben Pearson talked up a front two of James Wilson and Wayne Rooney when asked to name his ideal Manchester United five-a-side team for manutd.com.

In the interview with the club’s official website, the 20-year-old was asked to give the reasons behind his selection. After naming David de Gea, Phil Jones and Michael Carrick, the youngster heaped huge praise on Rooney and Wilson as a potential partnership.

When asked who would be alongside himself in the team, the youngster said: ‘’David de Gea in net. You can’t really complain about that, he’s been incredible this year, as a five-a-side keeper you couldn’t ask for much better.

‘’Probably Phil Jones – he’s aggressive and has got pace. Michael Carrick in there alongside me to calm things down as his passing is unbelievable.

‘’I’d probably have Wayne Rooney up top and, if I wasn’t in it, James Wilson for a bit of pace. I think those two as a combination could be unstoppable really.’’

How likely is a Rooney and Wilson strike partnership in the future?

The combination of Rooney and Wilson is an very interesting one, and one United fans would no doubt like to see in the future.

Wilson burst onto the scene last season with a brace on his debut against Hull City. Since then, he has struggled to hit the heights he initially set but has still shown signs of promise and development.

Although it’s unlikely the youngster will be given another first team chance this season, he does stand a good chance of securing a regular spot if he can live up to his potential in the close season.

Rooney would be a perfect partner for the youngster and would definitely be able to offer the experience to ease him into the senior side.

If United, as expected, don't proceed with the purchase of Radamel Falcao then there will definitely be a space in the squad for him to stake a claim. Therefore, it’s not beyond the realms of possibility that Red Devil supporters could see Pearson’s dream become a reality next season.
