Vurnon Anita refuses to be part of reported swap deal for Jordy Clasie

Newcastle utility man Vurnon Anita says he won't be part of a deal to bring Jordy Clasie to Tyneside.

Newcastle United midfielder Vurnon Anita has told Voetbal International that he knows nothing of a proposed swap deal for Feyenoord star Jordy Clasie.

The Magpies are in crisis mode after eight straight defeats, with manager John Carver desperately trying to keep the club in the Premier League.

Even with the club's top flight status in question, speculation continues to link Newcastle with big moves in the summer transfer market.

The Mirror recently suggested that the Magpies were ready to make an offer for Feyenoord star Clasie, who is one of the most highly-rated central midfielders in Europe.

In order to try and land the Dutch international, Newcastle were reportedly ready to offer up former Ajax star Anita in exchange to sweeten the deal.

Anita has struggled to make in impact on Tyneside since his 2012 move to the club, and is now considered to be little more than a bit-part player at St. James' Park.

The 26-year-old may have been seen as an ideal makeweight considering his experience in the Eredivisie, but Anita has told Voetbal International that he has no intention of leaving Newcastle, and certainly isn't aware of any deal to send him to Feyenoord.

"That's nothing I know about," said Anita of the rumours about Clasie. "Playing regularly is my first goal. Now I'd like to stay with Newcastle in the Premier League. After this season my contract runs for two more years. I am happy here and basically I'm not leaving," he added.
