According to French newspaper L'Equipe on Thursday morning, Stade Rennais winger Paul-Georges Ntep has paid two visits to Liverpool's Melwood training ground in the last 10 days. It suggests that there is definite interest from both parties and it would be no surprise to see the Anfield club make a bid this summer.
He is a player that would get the Liverpool fans on their feet. In just 17 months in Brittany, he has scored 14 goals, with some absolutely stunning and inventive strikes among them.
It was against Reims last season when he showed both his cheeky and creative side, bursting past their defence before stopping the ball on the goal line and heading it in. It was the goal the George Best always said he wanted to score. Ntep had the audacity to do it.
Although he is right-footed, Ntep loves to play on the left of the attack, looking to cut inside on his stronger foot and is no stranger to unleashing some wonderful long-range strikes. His highlight reels are filled with stunning efforts; he rarely settles for normal tap-ins.
Here is a selection of Ntep’s best goals for Rennes since he joined in January 2014:
