After his excellent performances for Chelsea’s youth teams this season, Belgian midfielder Charly Musonda is starting to attract some high-flying admirers. Belgian newspaper La Derniere Heure is reporting that Ligue 1 side AS Monaco are very interested in taking the 18-year-old on loan next season.
The Champions League quarter-finalists have apparently been interested since January, and see him as another young talent to complement the exciting squad they have put together since Radamel Falcao and James Rodriguez left last summer.
Musonda’s performances in the UEFA Youth League and the FA Youth Cup have attracted Monaco’s attention, and the No.10 could continue his development in the principality.
Chelsea apparently would like his career to continue in the Premier League, but with Monaco competing towards the top of Ligue 1 and set to qualify for the Champions League once again, it would be a great option for the young Belgian.
Joao Moutinho and Geoffrey Kondogbia have both started to attract attention from England, and if they move, the chances would be there for Musonda to gain a lot of playing time in France’s top division alongside fellow youngsters Anthony Martial and Bernardo Silva.
After signing his first professional deal back in 2013, the 18-year-old now holds a contract until 2019, so there is plenty of time for the midfielder to spend away on loan before trying to win a place in the Chelsea first-team.
His nationality would take away the language problem and make it easier to settle, he would also play beside countryman and fellow under-21 international Yannick Ferreira Carrasco – it could be an ideal move for all parties.
