The Crystal Palace boss signed the two players nine years ago.

There is no doubting the fact that Lionel Messi stole the show in the Champions League semi-finals this week. The Argentine's excellent double and then assist v Bayern Munich seems to have Barcelona on the brink of a Champions League final.

But two other Argentines were also magnificent in the two games. Carlos Tevez tore Real Madrid apart in Turin for his current club Juventus. Meanwhile, Javier Mascherano shackled Bayern at the Nou Camp.

Which makes this picture something to revel in for Crystal Palace fans.

Alan Pardew of course signed both men for West Ham United back in August 2006. The two arrived from Corinthians in a shock deal involving third-party ownership.

Of course Pardew struggled to get the best out of both players at West Ham.

Tevez went on to become a cult hero at West Ham, Mascherano has become a Liverpool and Barcelona hero.

Pardew meanwhile went on to manage Newcastle United, with mixed success, before going on to manage Crystal Palace this summer, bringing them to safety in a fantastic Premier League turnaround throughout 2015.

Now Pardew can also sit back, watch the Champions League semi-finals and think - 'I knew it.'
