Southampton take on Leicester City at the weekend.
The Saints travel to the King Power Stadium needing to get back on track after a defeat to Sunderland and Fonte believes that is within their capabilities.
He is not expecting it to be easy, though, and he insists that Southampton will need to be at their very best if they are to get the points.
“I’m expecting pretty much the same attitude as Sunderland had against us from Leicester on Saturday," he said.
“Sunderland were at it and that’s something we need to match at least, if not have more than them. As long as we can do that I think we’ll win the game.
“We have been working hard on the training ground to put straight our disappointing away form this weekend and we want to get back to winning ways.”
Ronald Koeman's side are likely to be greeted with a wall of noise at the King Power, with Leicester fans rallying behind their team.
The Foxes have won five of their last six games and it has given them the momentum required to have a chance of pulling of an unlikely escape from relegation.
At the moment Leicester are one point above the drop zone, but they will need at least one more victory if they are to avoid falling back into the bottom three.
It means that they will be very focused on the task against Southampton, but beating the South Coast club has proven a challenge this season.
Although the Saints haven't been in great form recently they are a very tricky opponent and Leicester will need to maintain their recent standards if they are to win.
