Newcastle United head coach John Carver has revealed on Sky Sports an incident on Monday which he claims proves that the players are ready for the fight.
The Magpies have lost their last eight Premier League matches and are just two points above the relegation zone at the moment.
Things are looking bleak for Newcastle, but Carver has insisted that the players are ready to give their all in the final three games.
To illustrate his point, the Englishman spoke of a meeting on Monday in which only the players were involved.
“When the players had their meeting on Monday, I was not involved in it, and neither was any of the other coaching staff,” Carver told Sky Sports.
“They called the meeting. I thought that was good. They are going to deal with the situation along with my support to get us out of this situation. And that shows me that the players are up and ready for the fight.”
The performances of the Newcastle players over the past few weeks have been poor, and against Leicester City last weekend they were terrible.
However, it seems that Carver is confident that the players do have it in themselves to step up and raise their game for the final three games of the season.
The match against West Bromwich Albion at St. James’ Park on Saturday will be key. The Magpies have to pick up all three points. If they do not, then they will edge a step closer to the Championship.
