Crystal Palace striker Kwesi Appiah says that he would be keen to move to Reading next season.

Crystal Palace striker Kwesi Appiah has told Get Reading that he wants to re-join Reading next season.

Appiah has been on loan at the Madejski Stadium since the start of April, although he has now returned to Selhurst Park, and he clearly enjoyed his time with the Royals.

The Ghanian international has never played frequently at Championship level before, but he has relished his first experience in the second tier. And, with his chances of playing at Palace limited next term, it seems that Appiah is open to moving away from Selhurst Park again.

“You never know,” he said. “That door is hopefully open. It’s down to the gaffer (Steve Clarke) what squad he wants next season.

“If he does come forward for me then it’s down to Crystal Palace whether or not they let me do that. I’ve got another two years on my contract. But I will be happy to come back next season if that opportunity comes.”

During his short stay with Reading, Appiah only made six appearances, four of which came as a substitute, but he found the net against Derby last weekend.

Appiah is blessed with pace and, although he only managed one goal during his stay, he has still given Reading a new dimension in attack.

Steve Clarke will be looking for a much improved season next time around it may be that he feels Appiah is the perfect man to lead the line for his new look team.
