Aston Villa's Joe Cole: We have turned the corner

Villa Park

Aston Villa have been much improved under the guidance of Tim Sherwood.

Joe Cole has told Aston Villa's official website that the club have finally turned the corner, with their recent performances of the highest standard.

The Claret and Blues have struggled for form this season, but Cole believes that things have started to fall into place now.

Since Tim Sherwood arrived as manager, Villa have won six of their 12 games under his guidance and Cole thinks the displays they are putting in are hugely encouraging.

"The boys have been fantastic. We've really turned a corner," he said. "Our performances have been excellent, even in the loss up at Man City. I've played in some fantastic teams but none of those have gone up to the Etihad and played as well as that.

"We took a lot from that and took it into the Everton game at the weekend. We had a great win against a good form side so things are looking up. The last few weeks have been fantastic. We look really good."

Villa started the season struggling to pose any threat to opposition teams, but Sherwood has found a way to get them firing.

The Claret and Blues now appear to be capable of troubling any side in the Premier League, and their results have been improved markedly on the back of that.

Villa have beaten Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur in recent weeks, while their performance against Manchester City was very impressive.

It means that they should be safe from relegation if they can maintain their current standards, but they cannot afford to have a dip in form as they are still only two points clear of the drop zone.
