Chris Maguire may not be popular among Leeds fans, but he could do a job for the team.
It is coming to that stage of the year when teams have to consider whether to release or retain certain players. That can also mean the vultures start circling for fresh pickings.
Leeds United are likely to be one team on the look out for the odd bargain this summer, with one very local one a potentially excellent signing.
Chris Maguire is out of contract at Sheffield Wednesday this summer and would represent a real coup for the club.
The Scottish international has been offered a new deal by the club, according to a report from the Sheffield Telegraph, but as yet nothing has been agreed. With that in mind, should Leeds make a move?
The club need to bring in wide-men and a striker this season, Maguire kills both birds with one stone. He would also need not relocate, considering he already plays in Yorkshire and the deal would not represent a massive change in his off-field circumstances.
Then there is the one-upmanship on their local rivals. Sheffield Wednesday snapped up Tom Lees last summer from Leeds and he has gone on to be a big hit at Hillsborough - which Owls fans enjoy reminding their Leeds counterparts.
This could be Leeds' chance to get their own back, but bring in a necessary and high calibre bargain in the process.
