Palermo have reportedly joined the race to sign Brescia star Ahmed Benali.
Benali, 23, joined hometown club Manchester City at the age of nine, signing his first professional contract at the Etihad Stadium aged 17.
Yet having failed to even make his competitive debut for City, Benali left after a loan spell with Rochdale, joining Italian side Brescia in search of first-team football.
Now impressing for the Serie B club, Benali - who has two caps for the Libya national team - is becoming a hot property in the transfer market.
Tutto Mercato Web recently reported that Benali had agreed a move to Celtic this summer, and would be joining the Bhoys and manager Ronny Deila at the end of the season.
However, their hopes of snapping Benali up may have taken a hit after Di Marzio reported that Palermo are now looking to sign the central midfielder.
The report states that, after seven goals and three assists this season, Benali is a target for Palermo - but given Celtic's alleged interest, they may have to try and hijack a move from the Bhoys ahead of this summer's transfer window.
