According to a report in SoccerNews, the Bhoys have lined up Otigba as a defensive replacement for van Dijk, who is expected to depart Parkhead this summer following a wealth of interest in him.
Sunderland, Southampton and Arsenal have all been linked with the Dutchman, as per the Mail, and Celtic boss Ronny Deila is preparing for life without the athletic 23-year-old.
To overcome such an issue, Deila has targeted Otigba, a 22-year-old centre-back, who currently turns out for Heerenveen in the Eredivisie.
Born in Nigeria, Otigba is a Hungarian youth international, and has been a consistent first-team starter for the Dutch club since breaking through to the senior squad from their academy in 2013.
Highly rated as a defensive prospect, Otigba is able to play in both the centre, as well as the right-back position, and has proven to have a pretty impressive record in the opposition penalty area - netting five goals in his 57 appearances.
At his young age, Otigba still has many years left to develop, and Celtic will be hoping for the promising centre-half to have the same kind of impact at Parkhead as van Dijk did following his transfer from the Eredivisie.
