A.D Sanjoanense have revealed that the midfielder has agreed a move to Anfield.
Liverpool have a fairly good record when it comes to bringing through young players. That does of course not just see local lads coming through the ranks. They also bring in plenty of top foreign talent.
The club currently have German Samed Yesil, Spanish talents Rafael Paez, Madger Gomes, Sergi Canos and Pedro Chirivella, American Marc Pelosi and Hungarian Kristof Polgar.
They also have some Portuguese talents in the system. The likes of Toni Gomes, Joao Teixeira and Tiago Ilori are all promising Portuguese talents at Anfield.
Now they have added another, who shares his name with a Tottenham Hotspur player.
The player in question is called Paulinho and he is a talented 17-year-old midfielder who currently plays with A.D Sanjoanense.
The club confirmed he has already agreed a move to Liverpool and would join the club in the summer. Mais Futebol quote the club as stating:
"The agreement comes after a period of testing that the held at the legendary English club, during which corresponded to the expectations of his parents and should be formalized in the coming days."
Sanjoanense currently play in the Campeonato Nacional, the third tier of Portuguese football, and Paulinho has already made 12 appearances in the first-team this season - despite his age.
It is therefore a big gamble, but Liverpool obviously believe he has the talent to be a hit in English football.
Hopefully more of a hit than his Brazilian namesake at Tottenham.
