Newcastle's Adam Armstrong sends message after great performance for under-21s

St James Park Four

One of Newcastle United's most exciting young players had a match to remember earlier this week.

Newcastle United youngster Adam Armstrong has taken to Twitter the day after his outstanding performance for the club’s under-21s.

The 18-year-old centre forward scored two goals and set up two more in a 4-1 victory against Blackburn Rovers on Tuesday evening.

It was an outstanding contribution from a player who is enjoying a wonderful season for Newcastle’s young side, scoring 11 goals in just 14 matches.

That form has seen the teenager given chances to impress for the Newcastle first-team in recent weeks, with Armstrong coming on in all of the Magpies' last six Premier League matches.

As a late substitute, he has been unable to influence those games, but there is no doubt he looks destined to be a future star with his great eye for goal.

After his latest match-winning performance, Armstrong wrote, “Great win last night. Beat Blackburn 4-2. Happy to grab two goals and two assists. Thank you for all the messages.”

Armstrong is likely to have a few more chances to net his first senior goal for Newcastle before the campaign is done, and next season he could be enjoying more than a few minutes here and there.
