Benteke has been the key figure in Aston Villa’s attack under manager Tim Sherwood, who has built his side around the Belgian as the club looks to get out of trouble near the bottom of the table.
“Christian is explosive. He is a top, top striker. He is a machine. He works every day in training. He works really hard out there. He gives it everything,” he said.
“It's a pleasure to play with him. He is a great player - and also a great guy.”
Sherwood is a very fair manager who stresses the importance of a good work ethic and enthusiasm to get the most out of his key players.
Benteke is a complete striker who can bully any defence in the Premier League when he’s on song.
The fact he’s training so hard should keep him one step ahead of opposition defences who will be working out ways to keep him quiet and isolated in the Aston Villa attack.
It means he’ll be that little bit sharper and that little bit stronger when fatigue may start kicking into the defenders in opposing sides.
If his current form continues then Aston Villa are going to be a Premier League team next season and the challenge for Sherwood will then fall on not getting the most out of Benteke, but simply keeping him.
