Manchester City want Danny Rose from Tottenham, but is he an upgrade on former Arsenal left-back Gael Clichy?
Danny Rose continues to be linked with a surprise move to Manchester City.
It is claimed Spurs would only be willing to consider selling for a minimum of £15 million, a steep price for a player whose performances can be the source of frustration for fans at times, despite a huge improvement this season.
The current incumbent of the left-back spot at City is Gael Clichy, formerly of Arsenal, who has been with the club since 2011.
|Team||Won Tackles per game||Interceptions per game||Aerial Duels won per game||Accurate Crosses per game||Assists||Goals||Appearances|
|Gaël Clichy||Man City||2.04||3.35||1.04||0.35||3||1||23|
Rose comes out on top against Clichy in two of three key defensive categories, tackles and aerial duels won, with the City ace more prolific in terms of interceptions.
The Tottenham Hotspur defender is ahead in attacking areas, goals, assists, and average number of crosses per game.
It's enough to see why Manchester City are interested in the former Leeds trainee, who is five years younger than Clichy and is reportedly being sought after in part as he would fit under their home grown quota.
Rose is reportedly happy at Tottenham, where Mauricio Pochettino has played a key role in his improvement, but City will have Champions League football on offer next season, and if they front up enough money to convince Spurs to sell up, that could be a deciding factor in helping the 24-year-old decide to make a switch.
