Lewis Grabban moved to Norwich City from Bournemouth in the summer of 2014 despite having the chance to join Nottingham Forest.

Stuart Pearce has revealed on BT Sport that he tried to sign Lewis Grabban for Nottingham Forest in the summer of 2014.

The former Forest manager made the revelation during the Matchday Live with Fletch & Sav show on BT Sport on Saturday.

While discussing Bournemouth’s sensational promotion-winning campaign, Pearce said: “They lost Grabban last summer.

"We looked at Grabban, about taking him to us. They ended up selling him and bringing Wilson in, who has done extremely well for them.”

Grabban joined Norwich City from Bournemouth in June 2014 and has been an important player for them this season.

The former Crystal Palace striker has scored 12 goals and created 32 chances in 35 Championship appearances so far this campaign.

The 27-year-old has a pass accuracy of 81% and a shot accuracy of 65%, and he has won six tackles, 27 dribbles and three headers.

Norwich finished the ‘regular’ Championship season third in the league table with 86 points from 46 matches, three points behind second-placed Watford. Alex Neil’s side will take on Ipswich Town in the Championship playoffs.

Meanwhile, Forest ended the 2014-15 Championship campaign in 14th place with 59 points from 46 matches.

As for Bournemouth, they won the league title and got promoted to the Premier League in style.
