Stuart Gray: I will put pressure on players to sign for Sheffield Wednesday

Sheffield Wednesday are expected to make a number of additions over the summer.

Stuart Gray has told the Sheffield Star that he will be putting pressure on players to commit to Sheffield Wednesday this summer.

The Owls are expected to be particularly active in the summer window and Gray will be looking to conduct his business early, giving his squad the best possible chance of gelling before the 2015/16 campaign kicks-off.

He realises that there are plenty of challenges that accompany such an approach to recruitment, but Gray intends to ensure that players are not left to ponder any proposed move to Hillsborough.

“Recruitment is the most important thing for us this summer and getting players in through the door as quickly as possible,” Gray said.

“But unfortunately the game is driven by agents. We might make an offer to a player and the agent might then bounce it around a few other clubs. We need answers and we’ll be putting pressure on lads.”

It has been a long time since there was such excitement around Wednesday, and Gray will be hoping that the Owls live up to expectations next term.

Wednesday have recently been taken over by Dejphon Chansiri and now have funds required to enhance the quality within their ranks.

With Gray already possessing the basis of a good squad, he has a solid foundation to build around and if he does bring in an injection of quality, then Wednesday should be pushing for promotion in the not too distant future.

Such a challenge will be welcomed by the club's loyal fan base, who have experienced some tough times in recent years, but Gray will realise that he is now under more pressure than ever before and it will be crucial that he gets his transfer business right over the coming months.
