Report: QPR to lose 14 players if relegated to Championship, including Austin, Phillips and Barton

Charlie Austin and Matt Phillips are the two highest profile names set to leave QPR this summer.

As per a report in the Mirror, QPR are set to lose upwards of 14 players this summer, should they be relegated to the Championship.

Charlie Austin looks likely to leave the club regardless of the R’s Premier League status next season, with a host of teams interested in his free-scoring exploits, whilst Matt Phillips has been drawing the interest of Southampton.

Rio Ferdinand, Bobby, Zamora, Joey Barton, Shaun Wright-Phillips, Richard Dunne and Clint Hill are just a selection of the other 12 players set to leave this summer, with many of them out of contract and not to be retained.

The West London club are set to be hit with a £50 million FFP fine if they are relegated to the second tier, and owner Tony Fernandes is keen on removing a number of highly-paid players from the club to oversee a new era of financial stability as they attempt to return to the top flight at the earliest opportunity without FFP hanging over their heads.

The report states that Fernandes is looking for at least £15 million for Austin, who has 17 goals in 32 Premier League games this season, whilst Phillips has been listed at roughly £8 million, should Southampton formalise their interest into a concrete offer.
