Newcastle United have agreed a £15 million fee with Anderlecht to sign Aleksandar Mitrovic this summer, according to a report in the Daily Mail.
Newcastle are expected to be particularly active in the summer transfer window and Mitrovic is the first of many additions they are intending to make.
The Magpies feel that Mitrovic can enhance their strike force considerably and, as a 20-year-old, he offers plenty of re-sale value, should he develop into the player Newcastle want him to be.
Newcastle are so determined to secure his signature that they have looked to move ahead of the queue by bidding early to sign the front-man, but there are still complications with the deal.
Although Anderlecht are satisfied with the £15 million Newcastle are offering, the striker himself is reportedly reluctant to move to St. James' Park.
Mitrovic has set his hopes on playing in the Champions League and Newcastle's failure to make it into Europe could stand against them.
The likes of Chelsea and Arsenal are also said to be interested in Mitrovic, per the Daily Star, meaning that despite showing a lot of foresight, Newcastle still may be set to lose out.
Mitrovic has scored 20 goals in 43 games this season and if he can replicate that tally in the Premier League, he would be a good addition for any side.
