According to Norwegian publication TV2, Molde goalkeeper Orjan Nyland is wanted by up to 15 clubs, with Newcastle United and Celtic among those named.
The report states the 24-year-old goalkeeper is being scouted by some of Europe’s biggest clubs, with Liverpool, Everton and Southampton also credited with holding an interest as a transfer scramble appears set to be sparked.
Newcastle could well be looking for a new goalkeeper this summer, despite the incoming of Nottingham Forest first choice Karl Darlow, following a bust up between current first choice Tim Krul and club captain Fabricio Coloccini which was reported by the Telegraph.
Celtic, on the other hand, have been served well by Craig Gordon this season and will most likely look to continue with him as first choice for the immediate future, even if another keeper is brought in.
Who is Orjan Nyland?
The 24-year-old has quickly risen to hold a standing as Norway’s best keeper and has the look of a player who could have a very long and successful career ahead of him.
In 2013, he was named in the UEFA under-21 Championship team of the tournament and has already won three domestic cups and one league trophy over the past three seasons.
Although still relatively young for a goalkeeper, he could well be considered as a first choice appointment by all of the clubs reported to keen, but all will need proof that he is more capable than the options currently at their club.
Nevertheless, he’s definitely a player to keep an eye on over the summer as it’s very possible the United Kingdom could be his next destination.
