According to a report from the Daily Mirror, Chelsea are considering a move for Liverpool striker Rickie Lambert this summer.
At first glance the rumour seems extremely hard to believe, and at second glance, too, for that matter.
With Didier Drogba’s current Chelsea deal expiring this summer, there could well be a space for a new third-choice striker to play when Diego Costa and Loic Remy are unavailable or rested at Stamford Bridge; and from that potential scenario, the Lambert rumour has sprung.
The 33-year-old signed for Liverpool from Southampton last summer; the boyhood Reds fan finally achieving his dream.
It is fair to say things have not quite gone according to plan since then, with the England international failing to replicate his fine form for the Saints, featuring 33 times for Liverpool (predominantly from the bench) and scoring just three goals in that time.
With a contract until 2016, Lambert does in theory have another year to prove his worth at Anfield, but could he be on his way sooner than that if Chelsea come calling?
Following the latest claims we took to Twitter to see what Liverpool fans thought of the rumour and you can read a selection of what we found below:

The guy that said Chelsea are going to go for Rickie Lambert should just resign, did he actually think anyone would believe it?— . (@Coppin_LFC) May 4, 2015
