Leeds United fans debate whether Adryan should be kept on, question Neil Redfearn’s decision

Does Flamengo-owned Adryan have a long-term future at Leeds United?

Adryan arrived at Leeds United in the summer of 2014 basking in hype and expectations, but he was largely a disappointment.

The Brazilian attacking midfielder was expected to enhance the quality of the team and help them challenge for a top-six finish in the Championship, but things did not work out that way.

After initially struggling with fitness issues, Adryan failed to even make the matchday squads on a regular basis for the Whites towards the end of the season.

The Flamengo-owned 20-year-old showed his potential from time to time, his runs and dribbles a marvel to behold.

However, Adryan did not get enough playing time to take his game to the next level and was able to make only 12 appearances in the Championship.

In those 12 matches, the youngster created 12 chances, had a pass accuracy of 80% and a shot accuracy of 44%, and won just two headers, 16 dribbles and only six tackles.

Adryan is now back in his native Brazil for the summer break, but his future remains unclear.

Will Leeds sign him from Flamengo on a permanent deal? Should the Whites sign him? Does the player himself wants to remain at Elland Road?

These are some of the questions that are being asked by the Leeds fans, many of whom have been discussing those issues on HITC Sport.

Below are the best comments from Leeds fans posted on various articles on HITC Sport over the past few days.

Philip of Spain: “I think we should have given him more chances, but Redders opted for his academy lads no progress from last year.15th.another rubbish season.”

Neil Abbott: “Too lightweight for the championship. When he was given a run didn't do enough to earn a place. The young academy kids did. Managers will always have their own view on players and will pick players they trust. Next season we need at least three championship or premiership quality to go with the kids coming through and stop the silly second rate Italian experiment.”

WhiteSoul: “Supposed to be good ? He wasn't and isn't !!!”

Dean Walls: “Yes, get him signed up and give him the number 10 slot! Lad needs to feel wanted and has the potential to be great. With our young team plus the potential of Adrian plus a few experienced Premier players and we could be challenging! Oh, did I forget to mention the stability part?”

Sickasapig: “What a shame this lad ended up playing for a mess of a club. He has tremendous talent and at a stable and forward thinking club he will blossom into a really good player. One day we will say he played for Leeds and look what we lost. Good luck young lad, I hope you fulfill your dreams.”

Spanky White: “I understand Leeds still have the option of signing Adryan Tavares, at the end of his loan period' for £2.3mill.(Euro 3 Mill). Now is the time to extend the Loan, or, re-negotiate the Price. If we do, I really hope he will not spend his time with the Under 21's, until "Redders" can claim him as one of his Academy products.”

Raw: “Not used just because he's not one of Redders boys. I remember when he was on the pitch the game had flair, options and more chances. When Redders subbed him, game died so did options, chances and goals. A huge goal scoring and play making talent wasted. Would of scored way more than the 1st pick striker of Morrison. What was his tally, 2 goals all season. I hate to say it, we were better when Cellinio could interfere.”

Holy Ghost: “Love redderz.. But a bad choice not to play him.”
