Burke is one of the most talented young players in the Championship and he’s already made a positive impression on one of the club’s more senior players, along with others in the first team squad.
“His feet (best asset). He’s great in the air but his feet are fantastic. Some of the lads have said he’s a bit like Gareth Bale – He’s got a similar sort of style, but obviously he’s not the same – He’s very direct but with the right coaching and management he’ll make the right decisions,” said Wilson.
One of the main features of Bale’s game is his pace and the way he controls the ball while moving at immense speed.
He showed those qualities over a number of seasons, refined them and built them up into an asset where he was very consistent.
Burke has a very, very long way to go before he’s near a similar level but there’s every reason to believe that he will get a chance under Dougie Freedman next season.
If Burke can work hard through the summer and keep fit, he should be a level ahead of some other players by the time the pre-season schedule kicks in.
If he can impress in the traditional friendly games before the competitive action gets underway, he should have a chance to build on what he’s already shown next season in the Championship.
He’s a good talent and someone Freedman has to try and utilise because he can change games.
