The Gunners’ 3-1 win over Hull last night made it mathematically impossible for North London rivals Tottenham to catch them.

Arsenal may well have missed out on the Premier League title this season, but a 3-1 win over Hull last night gave the Gunners an excellent chance of finishing as runners-up in 2014-15.

The victory at the KC Stadium also signified another triumph for Arsene Wenger’s men, as it guaranteed that Tottenham could not finish above their North London rivals this season.

The day of celebration amongst Gunners fans is known as St Totteringham’s Day and continues to be a source of joy for the Emirates Stadium faithful.

The victory moved Arsenal up to 70 points for the campaign, while Spurs languish on 58 points with only three games of the season remaining.

The feat seemed under threat when Tottenham beat Arsenal at White Hart Lane back in February, with a Harry Kane brace moving Mauricio Pochettino’s men above their rivals on the table.

However, since then Spurs have undergone inconsistent form, while the Gunners have looked like a team capable of winning the league with a victorious streak.

Arsenal fans took to Twitter to make their St Totteringham’s Day delight known, rubbing their close neighbours’ noses in it at the same time.
