The Midlands outfit were delighted at the prospect of another high profile fan, after Will and Kate, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, welcomed a daughter into the world.
Much of the UK were talking about the birth of the new Princess Cambridge on Saturday morning as football fans around the country prepared to head to support their teams home and away, but Aston Villa were particularly happy to welcome another addition to the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge's family, immediately signing her up as a Villa Park supporter.
Prince William is famously a Villa fan, having taken to the Midlands side as a young boy, and there are obviously high hopes that Prince George will follow after his father, potentially ensuring that two future kings are likely to have a claret and blue scarf somewhere in their closet.

And the club wasted no time in gatecrashing the celebratory atmosphere by tweeting a full replica kit with 'Her Royal Highness' abbreviated and the number '2' to signify Wills and Kate's second child, hanging from the washing line in full nostalgia mode, with the words 'Congratulations to the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge on the birth of their baby girl', as well as the nifty hashtag #babyVillan. Villa did the same when Prince George was born in 2013, a cunning piece of promotion whatever your feelings on the Royal Family.
Though the princess is yet to be named, odds are tumbling on the rather catchy Princess Benteke and Princess Grealish.
